Men’s skincare is just as important as Women’s, but most have neglected it or kept it rather simple. Enhancing your skincare routine can have huge benefits and results, giving you healthier, younger-looking skin.

It’s important to first know your skin type to better select products that work for your specific skin. There is sensitive skin, normal skin, dry skin, oily skin, and combination skin—which is dry in some areas and oily in others.

Here are five essential tips to build a skincare routine your face and body will thank you for:

1. WASH YOUR FACE

This may sound like a no-brainer, but always wash your face! Make sure to do this daily, morning and night. It is also important to do it after a sweaty workout. Exercise can lead to acne if you don’t cleanse your face after sweating so much. Sweat clogs your pores, leading to breakouts.

2. LOOK AT INGREDIENTS

This goes with washing your face but always look at product labels to see what kind of ingredients are used. Look for products that are oil and fragrance-free, as these are great for sensitive skin.

3. MOISTURIZE

Even if you have oily skin, it is still important to moisturize daily. Choose one that caters to your specific skin type. Moisturizer hydrates your skin, reduces fine lines, and makes your skin look brighter and younger.

4. SHAVING TECHNIQUE

Your technique and the products you use when you shave all contribute to having clear skin. Using a single or double blade is better for sensitive skin and can reduce razor bumps, burns, and ingrown hairs, compared to a multi-blade.

5. WEAR SUNSCREEN

Wearing sunscreen every day, whether you’re going to the pool or not, is so important. Sunscreen offers another layer of protection, giving you healthier, younger-looking skin. SPF 30 or higher is ideal for protecting your face from harmful UV rays and preventing sun damage. Sun damage can lead to wrinkles, age spots, and more, so it’s important to be preventive whether it’s beach weather or not.
